I am a Pakistani, and realize the pain you people have suffered at the hands of the Pakistani Army. The sad part is that none of these butchers were tried for crimes against humanity. We in Pakistan were always told one part of the story. I hope more Pakistanis will accept the fact that the ir army did engage in a genocide and should have been punished for this. Perhaps its Allahs way of taking revenge that these blood hungry soldiers are ruling us once again.

HashmiJ@drte.com on Jul 3, 2000
I just saw and read the facts of this page. It will be very honest if you also describe to the public that what crimes were done by the so called "MukhtiBahini" during the war session? The Mukhti Bahini never killed and raped innocent people? They never looted and savaged property/people? Why don't you also show the pictures where your Bengali counterparts have entered many a houses and took young girls? And what they did to those girls.. ...You are such a case

I was a independant reporter in East Pakistan before ot became Bangladesh, and I find this site to show a very one- sided view of things. The maniacs in the Mukti Bahini commited appalling atrocities against Muslim Pakistanis, civilian Indians, and their own people. It's easy to settle many scores against someone you don't like in the 'name of freedom.' a site like this shows only one aspect of the struggle, without accepting the wrongs of Bangladeshi 'freedom fighters.' you will only (incomplete)

I am from Lahore, Pakistan. After visiting your site, I started feeling guilty. It's shame on us to think being muslim what we have done to another muslim nation. Can't just believe, that many women were raped. The soldiers who did all these disgusting work are rulling us today. I know You guys have lot of tolerance. If it would happen to us, we would probably be crazy.

I belong to Pakistan. I went through the site and the pictures showing the suffering of Bangladeshi people at the hands of Pak Army really moved me. It will really help the people of my generation in understanding the sufferings beared by the Bangladeshi people in their war for freedom, who were born after the war. Whatever our elders have done wasent right, and it is very difficult for you to ignore such a big disaster. The course of history cannot be reversed. There is one question that re(incomplete)

I am a Pakistani. I appreciate your effort in promoting your cause. To understand history one should have knowledge of the point of view of the other party. Yes, Pakistani troops also would have committed crimes but the role played by the Indian Troops during the war cannot be declined. Therefore the role of indians played in the war should also be taken into account.

Mr. Khan & other "Similar minded" Pakistanis:
You guys are a bunch of hot-headed, ignorant, arrogant morons. E. & W. Pakistan was like having NY & Texas as a country separated by the rest of the states. We won the majority in elections in 71 but were denied representation by the brutal Paki military junta, denied having our own language as the national language. Yes, we may be poor but free and happy, and we have some sort of democracy unlike Pakistan. Yes we have plenty of fish & it's good for health and keeps the brain cool. Do you think you can get away with anything in the name of religion? If you support freedom for Kashmir or Bosnia, why not Bangladesh? If you can't stand a Hindu, stop using the internet because it was developed mostly by people of other faith. Just see what kind of darkness Afghanistan is going into with Pakistan's help. Your allegation that non-Bengali Muslim women were tortured/raped by Indian army and the Mukti Bahini is a baloney, in fact, there were very few non-Bengalis in BD at that time (less than 1%), and If there was some torture, it was in response to the brutal killings of Pak forces, and we regret that. But I am horrified that you guys have no sympathy over the murder thousands of innocent Bangladeshis where more than 85% were Muslims like you. Shame on you.

To the people who developed this site: Keep up the good work. Allah hafez

Thanks to everyone who maintains this site. It is really amazing to find how even in year 2001, some people support killing fellow human beings in the name of religion! Mr Khan and others, how do you validate killing Hindus just because they are ... and how do you justify killing fellow muslim brothers along with them? Just because we were Hindus 1000 years ago? Shame on you ... remember your blue blood and blindness about your religion will take you no where.

We don't believe that we are dirt w/o your support. Do you know that without the support of East Bengal, you would not have gotten Pakistan? Even Punjab did not vote for division. In fact we were turning into dirt while we stayed with you ... because you were robbing us in the name of running our country and in the name of religion. You back stabbed us ... not we. We stood up for what is right. That's why we got our freedom. We had nothing to gain or to feel proud staying with you. We don't care if we are poor ... we are happy human beings. We know what our roots are and we feel proud of our Bengali culture. We are pious muslims but unlike you, we do not intend to turn our coutry into a religious black hole of darkness.

How do you relate Bengalis in Karachi & Democracy? It only shows that you know nothing about political systems. You people still live in the middle age where the strong and powerful still runs the show. What have you gained in the last 50 years after you got your independence? Military might?!! Look what is happenning in your country with all the arms you have. Why are muslims killing muslims? Having an A-bomb? What will you do with that? Drop it on Hindus? Do you think you'll survive after that? But we will. We are the most liberal muslim country in the world ... and that is a big achievement. We have thrown out the military from our society (and you?). We still have a lot to do and we are doing it. One day we'll surpass you in everything, just keep watching!!!

I am a bihari origin and my family was
living in shantahar near bogra in bangladesh by that time. Though most of
our family men and women were killed by mukti bahinis but i dont have any feeling of hatred against my bengali fellows whether hindu or muslim. The reason is it was a particular time of violence during 1971 and never recurred any hostility against biharis and bengalis ever after that. Though still a number of biharis living in bangladesh.

Look at our country pakistan every day on an average 10-15 peoples are killed
in the name of shia vs sunni, mohajir vs patahan, punjabi vs pathan, pathan qabilah vs another patahn qabilah, baloch qabilah vs another balock qabilah.......etc.
yes there are a number of bengalis living in karachi and think this is the 3rd largest bengali city in the world. Hats off to these hard working bengalis
who earned valuable dollars for our country. without these labours our industry will collapse.

On advice of some friends of mine, I visited certain sites on internet to read about Bengali people's claims about 'untold atrocities' perpetrated by Pakistan army in 1971, and their demand for international justice against these 'crimes'. Many of the Bengalis' claim is that, the Pakistan army killed 3 million, 30 lakhs people, in nine months besides many other 'wrong-doing'. According to them, the death and distraction caused by the Pakistani forces only equaled that of World War II. This has been the claim going on for the last thirty years. I think, I need to say something as an unfortunate Pakistani, and it is up to my Bengali brothers to listen to, or not to.

Atrocity on any ground, in any form, on any pretext is condemnable. There is no doubt about it. And atrocity is atrocity, whether incurred on small scale or on large scale, whether involving a few individuals or involving state machinery. Atrocities generally occur in state of war, when killing and getting killed take precedence over any other sane thinking and humanism.

In 1971, there was a war - a civil war - the war that destroys all civility, gives rise to hatred, escalates killing instincts. That was the thing happened in war area. I know, all this was unlikable, undesirable and utterly condemnable. What happened cannot be supported under any pretext. But the claim of 30 lakhs people losing lives! Three million people?!? Is this a misprint or genuine demand of the Bengalis? Can I believe this?

I was thinking, how is it possible that, in Kashmir seven lakh Indian soldiers fighting insurgencies for about 13 years, resulting in killing of about 50,000 Kashmiris, but less than one lakh Pakistani force (as we know, 90000 disgraced Pakistani returned after fall of Dhaka) killed 3 million people in just nine months? Though many of you may contest, but it is a internationally accepted fact that, about seven lakhs, that is 0.7 million, Indian forces are deployed in Kashmir, and the armed insurgency is on for long 13 years.

I was in real quandary. Then, just as a God-sent, came this week's The Newsweek International (August 27, 2001) with the cover story "Asia's War Over History". This story gave me a lot of logic, and a bit of strength to understand the truth.

The story states, "thousands of civilians massacred by Pakistani troops". Elsewhere it states that, up to 300,000 Chinese were killed by Japanese Imperial Army soldiers in what is known as the most infamous atrocities in modern times, "The Rape of Nanking". The story also gives a figure of 500,000 people massacred in 1965 in Indonesia after Suharto came into power, which CIA of America describes "as one of the worst mass murders of the 20th century".

The August 13, 2001 issue of the Newsweek's cover story "Facing the Grisly Past" tells us that Khmer Rouge of Cambodia killed 1.7 million people in 1974. That country is still traumatized. Thousands of human skulls and bones can still be seen in pictures of that country. As against 1.7 million internationally accepted figure of Cambodian massacre, our Bengali brethren claim that Pakistanis had killed 3 million people. Are the pictures of Bangladesh as grisly as that of Cambodia? At least I've not so far seen any such pictures, full of skulls, in any international magazines and newspapers.

So, I think our Bengali brethren's claims are not based on hard facts, but on emotions, and probably on mal-intentions to linger on the bitterness in the Bengalis' minds. Though I believe that, atrocities are always un-acceptable, but the horrendous figures put forward by my brothers are not probably factually tenable.

I do also feel that, as demanded by Bengalis, the case should be heard by International court or any appropriate international body to settle this voluptuous, huge claim once for all.

With love,

  5. I normally try to pull your legs with lighter notes, whenever I put a comment in the FB. But, I'm really amazed that you did that at that point of your life. In fact, I have a kind of respect for that side of you.

Now, reading the comments in the link and knowing what happened to the site, I have the following comments.

    1. The anti liberation forces are still very organized, while the pro-liberation forces are all fragmented. The other day I saw an online survey result in some newspaper, which asked something about Jamat/Shibir ( Cannot remember the question ). An overwhelming number of answers seemed to be from those who would support them. It does not mean that these maggots are large in number. They just ( I believe) took the advantage of multiple entry. But this shows how aligned, structured and focused they are.... See more

    2. Some of the comments are possibly posted by people of this country with a pinch of Mir Zafar's blood.

    3. (From my experience) Many Pakistanis repents and are guilt clad for what was done to us. But, If we have bastards like the Jamatis, it is natural that Pakistan will have ultra nationalists ( who has not seen anything ) who would not believe what happened.

    4. How many persons were killed in 1971 might not have a precise count. But, it is safe to say it would be hundreds of thousand. But, I don't think it's needed. No information would change the minds of those who tries to disprove the fact. We need not put our energy to debate with these blind, deaf and dumbs.

    5. Trial of the war criminals is a long pending issue. After all these years, we might not be able to try everyone involved. If we can try some of the big hogs, it will lead to a complete political defeat of the anti-liberation elements and reduce enrollment to the Jamat Shibirs.
